The five-step pipeline

Eligibility check

Initial screen against inclusion criteria (peer-reviewed primary research, AI/ML in an ophthalmology subspecialty).

Two-reviewer screening

Two reviewers independently confirm eligibility; discrepancies adjudicated by a third reviewer.

Model-card extraction

Schema-validated MDX card authored by the subspecialty team using the EyeModelHub model-card template.

APPRAISE-AI scoring

Independent dual scoring across 24 items in 6 subdomains. Total grade and subdomain percentages render automatically on the card.

Publication or rejection notice

Approved cards merge to the live registry within ~60 seconds of PR merge. Submitters receive an email with the outcome and a card URL or rejection reason.

Target turnaround: 4 weeks from submission to publication or rejection notice. Continuous submissions stream into the same review pipeline as the annual full re-search.
